Just bring along an apron and if you would like to include any of your own drawings or collage materials, please feel free to do so. Mo will let you know if they will work with the wax. Using carbon paper, charcoal, graphite, print outs, and Joss papers. You can create your work on wax using your own printed images. The image transfer process only uses water, and is therefore totally non-toxic.

Paper & Wax: Encaustic Collage Workshop

Mo will show you how to transfer your photographic images to wax, and what to do with them once you have. We will also do easy transfers of your own drawings done with pencil, charcoal, coloured pencils, carbon paper and mark making media. Just bring along an apron and if you would like to include any of your own drawings or materials please feel free to do so. It can be layered into your encaustic paintings to creating stunning effects that can mimic aged tiles or parchments. We will also use oil paints to create that aged cracked paint look.

Be ready for some creative arson. Dipping,pouring and brushing onto paper will be covered also.

Using a variety of techniques, image transfers and different papers, you can create different effects including overlays and layering techniques and the use of text within the work. We will be using simple items to create mini 3D sculptures with encaustic.

We will learn how to dip,pour, mould and form waxed pieces. Mo will also show different methods to attach the work to a board for display.

Working Large In this workshop we will work a little largeer and in a more painterly way than before with encaustic up to 60cm X 60cm. Utilising many different techniques to build interest, colour and form. A variety of new techniques will be explored including layering transparent glazes to achieve luminosity.

We will also learn how to work with an iron to create texture and interest in the work. I added oil paints directly to the warm encaustic, fusing paint strokes into the wax.
